Great condition, Cathrineholm lidded casserole serving dish in enamel with carrying handle in chrome finish. Classic mid century lotus pattern in white on a mustard background.
Cathrineholm Lotus Ware was made from 1962-1965. They were made in about 11 colours, including combinations. According to company literature, designer Grete Prytz Kittelsen was responsible for the form and colour whilst Arne Clausen, another Cathrineholm designer, pushed for the idea of lotus leaves. Lotus ware became incredibly popular not just in its native Norway but across Europe, in Japan and the USA. Designed to be beautiful to cook in as well as serve in. Piece measures 7-7/8”/19.8cm in diameter, 10.5”/26.5cm including carrying handles, 7.5”/19cm diameter lid rests on inside lip. Just under 4” high without lid and 5”/12.7cm height including lid. A beautiful piece to add to your collection.
