Excellent condition, Cathrineholm lidded casserole and serving dish in enamel with carrying handle in chrome finish. Classic mid century lotus pattern in white on an avocado green background. Small vent hole in lid.
Cathrineholm Lotus Ware was made from 1962-1965. They were made in about 11 colours, including combinations. According to company literature, designer Grete Prytz Kittelsen was responsible for the form and colour whilst Arne Clausen, another Cathrineholm designer, pushed for the idea of lotus leaves. Lotus ware became incredibly popular not just in its native Norway but across Europe, in Japan and the USA. Designed to be beautiful to cook in as well as serve in. Piece measures 11 inches in diameter with an additional 2 1/2 inches including carrying handles, 10 inch diameter lid rests on inside lip. Beautiful piece to add to your collection.
