"Taccia" lamp designed by Achille Castiglioni for Flos 1962.
This is the big model. Original. A bit of age showing in metal base, and one tiny chip at edge of blown glass bowl, which is covered by the diffuser.
As Castiglioni described the lamp, "We consider it the Mercedes of lamps, a symbol of success: perhaps because it looks like the shaft of a classical column. We certainly weren't thinking of prestige when we designed it. We just wanted a surface that would stay cool."
It stays cool and it is cool!
(column base is 7" wide.)
This piece requires two boxes. One for the base. The blown glass needs a separate, double box.
