'Olimpia' is a dynamic 1930s french Art Déco sculpture cast in patinated spelter depicting a greek woman athlete captured mid-movement, arms lifted and legs extended as if leaping. The sloping stone base bears the signature of Pierre Le Faguays, known also as Fayral, who created the original work for the Max Le Verrier foundry. Le Faguays' sculpture expresses the modern aesthetic through its stylized elongated form and sense of motion. His pseudonym Fayral and the Le Verrier foundry stamp can be found near the figure's left foot.
