The pot and lid was … Read more This beautifully ornate, hand-crafted teapot features a sculpted giraffe lid in purple and orange colors. The pot and lid was meticulously hand-sculpted and painted by artisans of the Ardmore Ceramics studio, sculpted by Paulinah Ntshalintshal painted by and Zinhle Nene. The body of the piece features sculptural floral elements and the painted head of a giraffe, while the pattern-work on the handle and spout of the teapot echo the giraffe color and pattern on the top of the lid. This piece was produced in 2001. Ardmore Ceramics is a culturally significant ceramics studio, located in the Champagne Valley, KwaZulu-Natal, contributing significantly to the global appreciation of contemporary black art from South Africa.
