Wall lights designed by the Guzzini brothers for Guzzini, 1969 Italy.
White acrylic glass lampshade and nickel -plated metal structure, the lamps are made up of 2 semi -transfers in acrylic glass overlapping to the central structure, the lamps give a warm and welcoming light to the surrounding environment.
Harvey Guzzini is often erroneously considered the name of an active lighting designer between the 60s and 70s; In reality it is the name of a manufacture of Italian lamps, founded by six Guzzini brothers (Raimondo, Giovanni, Virgil, Giuseppe, Adolfo and Giannunzio), which takes its name from the 1950 Harvey film, with James Stewart. By further complicating their history, the brothers rename the factory several times during the twentieth century, choosing names such as Harvey Creazioni, Harvey Guzzini, Guzzini, Iguzzini, and Guzzini lighting.
Harvey Creations was originally founded in 1959 in Recanati by Raimondo, which focuses mainly on the creation of decorative objects plated in copper; Four years later, in June 1963, the brothers join business by creating Guzzini's Harvey Creations, and expanding the production, which since then will include lamps and chandeliers, applique, and lamps from the ground. The brothers take the architect and designer Luigi Massoni - presented to the brothers by the magnate of the import of plastic Maurizio Adreani - as head of design, public relations, and advertising.
Known design by Harvey Guzzini include the Mushroom table lamp by Massoni and Luciano Buttu (1965), and the Arc land lamp (1968), and the Faro table (1970) and Toledo (1973). Studio 6g, a team of designer, develops the famous clan table lamp (1968); And the designers Ermanno Lamo and Sergio Brazzoli create the Ribbon series (1970), the Orion suspension lamp (1970), the Sirio table lamps (1970) and Albanella (1973), the Alba land lamp (1973), and the ALF series (1976).
Around 1976 Harvey Guzzini interrupts the production of copper plated objects to focus on the creation of lighting - the most of which is produced in polymethylmetacrylate (acrylic). The company collaborates with Yugoslava Meblo for the production of furniture.
In 1967-68 the Guzzini exhibited the medium lamp of Gio Ponti's at the Domus exhibition: Formes Italiennes at the Galeries Lafayette in Paris with the name Design House (DH). Shortly afterwards they open a shop in Milan, under the name of Harvey Guzzini-Dh, and thus entering fully right in the list of the most prestigious design houses in Italy.
In 1974 the company changed its name to Iguzzini once again, to which "lighting" will be added in 1981, and continues to produce and create in Recanati today.
