Barbara Weldon was an American water colorist. Her paintings are created using a palette of light pigments, creating compositions with soft-tone colors. Weldon’s work is an example of the versatility of water based paint. She blends color and texture to create abstract designs that incorporate floral patterns. Born on August 29, 1931 in Yuma, Arizona, the artist went on to study art and mathematics at San Diego State University before pursuing her career in art. Weldon’s paintings are in the collections of Bank of America’s headquarters in San Francisco, the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, and the Grossmont Hospital Women’s Center in La Mesa, California, among others. She died on October 9, 2007 in San Diego, CA.
