This is a very impressive table or floor lamp, model 'Gherpe' made by Superstudio for Poltronova, Italy in 1967.
This animal-like table lamp can take on many forms, thanks to its six curved sheets made of acrylic glass that are attached to a central, chrome plated base. The sheets radiate 180 degrees from the base. The lamp housing is mounted on the base and two black circular knobs on either side secure the sheets to the base. The smallest acrylic sheet has an indentation to allow it to rest over the electric cord. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
