Gavina was an important Italian company in the design and furniture production sector. Founded in 1960 by Angelo and Corrado Gavina, the company played a significant role in the development and promotion of Italian design during the 60s and 70s.
Gavina was one of the first companies to collaborate with internationally renowned designers, thus contributing to the spread of the concept of "industrial designer" and the idea of furniture as functional works of art.
Among the designers who collaborated with Gavina there were names of great prestige such as Marcel Breuer, Pierre Paulin, Kazuhide Takahama, and many others. These collaborations produced some of the most iconic furniture of the twentieth century, characterized by innovative shapes, high quality materials and strong attention to aesthetics and functionality.
Gavina is particularly known for the production of chairs and furniture for domestic and commercial furniture. Their products have often incorporated materials such as wood, metal and plastic, combined with advanced production techniques to create unique pieces of their kind.
The Gavina company has contributed significantly to the growth and spread of Italian design in the world, exporting its furniture to many countries and participating in international exhibitions and fairs.
