Vittorio Cajani's painting entitled La Forza Del Destino.
Vittorio Cajani was a Turin painter born in 1848 who saw his greatest output in the second half of the 19th century.
His depictions often dealt with scenes of horses or populist daily life.
The painting is painted in oil on canvas and depicts a battlefield, in the left foreground are a fallen horse and soldier while centrally there is surviving horse intent on searching through the rubble.
Light filters from the upper right through the cloud of ash and dust from the violent battle that has just ended.
Note the painter's ability to give a sense of tragedy through painting.
The painting is signed in the lower left corner and the title - The Force of Destiny - and signature are written in pencil on the back in the frame.
