The final … Read more "Joy" is a is a multi-layered and dimensional painting created with a bright and joyful palette of colors. The final layer was created with oil paints and I used a palette of reds, yellows, blues, lavender, and orange.
I started with an under painting of acrylic paints and over several days added more layers of acrylic, spray paint and finished with oil paints. As I painted intuitively, some elements were covered over while others were revealed again, and the finished painting contains a rich, layered history. The 1.5 in. sides are painted turquoise, one of the blue shades from the painting.
The painting is on 24 x 30 x 1.5 stretched canvas and although it is wired to hang vertically, you also have the option to hang "Joy" horizontally. I loved both positions, so decided to sign my signature on the side and back rather than the front.
"Joy" arrives unframed with a certificate of authenticity.
