Irene Stry (American 1899 - 1963) oil painting on board Provincetown School cottage street scene. Wonderful colors with impasto technique. Original cream painted pine frame. Nice small size - measures 8 1/2" x 7 1/2" framed. Signed lower left. Good condition.
Stry is best known for coastal landscape painting. Stry worked in Provincetown and Truro from the 1930's to the 1950's.
The current diminutive painting depicts a lovely landscape with cottage and white picket fence with foliage and flowers in bloom. Painted in a palette of summer hues, the artist has masterfully captured the play between light and shadow.
