Born in Provincial France in the 19th century, having a hinged rectangular cane woven seat, opening to cutout that once housed a porcelain chamber pot, rising on turned H-form stretcher-joined legs.

Similar to a close stool (necessary stool - thunderbox), potty chair, bedside night commode or chaise percée, this old fashioned bidet is a wonderful reminder of how the times have changed with modern day hygiene. A fabulous curiosity, in addition to perspective, this bidet is a wonderful way to add whimsical elegance, Provincial warmth and historical depth to any space!

Condition:
Good antique condition with nicely aged heavily worn distressed chippy paint patina. Retaining original antique character marks and rustic old world European charm throughout. Wear consistent with over 150 years of age and indicative of use, including scattered nicks, scratches, rubbing, and chippy paint finish losses. Porcelain bowl has been lost to time. As photographed.
