Anselmo Giardini was born in Riccione in 1952, attended the Pesaro Art Institute and the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome under the guidance of Emilio Greco. He has been working in his craft workshop in Riccione since 1977. The proposed sculpture represents Gaea, the first goddess of the Greek (and later Roman) world: she is a symbol of the importance of the earth in ancient agricultural civilizations but also of the role of women in procreating and raising children. The sculpture is made of terracotta, consisting of five pieces. It has some minor chips and repairs. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
from
misattribution
