"Gouache Marine Gilbert Pajot" Gilbert Pajot is surely one of the most exciting and intriguing unofficial naval painters of the 20th century. Adopting the iconoclastic, naïve style of his father Paul-Émile, a Vendée fisherman turned painter. Gilbert Pajot made his career painting portraits of boats, harbors and fishing scenes. His unique style, recognizable among many others, is marked by the influence of Japanese iconography, which spread to Europe in the 19th century. His work, like that of his father, constitutes one of the finest bodies of naive maritime art. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
