Benjamin Duffield family. A Fine Walnut Corner Cupboard from Philadelphia. Attributed to William Savery cabinetmaker. Circa 1750. Eighteenth Century. One Piece.
This cupboard remained with the original Duffield family until late twentieth century when it was acquired directly by the present owner. The family tree shows the Duffield Family.
As described by James E. Buckley, Freeman / Fine Arts of Philadelphia. Now Freeman's Hindman.
Flat Cove Molded Cornice Over Single Lattice Cabinet Door, Enclosing 4 Shelves, Over Single Paneled Door Flanked by Flat Reeded Column Sides, Straight Bracket Feet.
Height 92", Width 48", depth 20".
Provenance : From the Duffield family. Benjamin Duffield 1661 - 1741 came over from England with William Penn.and settled in Pennsylvania.
Descendent Benjamin Duffield was a physician and one of the founding members of the College of Physicians Philadelphia 1787. A friend of Benjamin Franklin and Philadelphia cabinet maker William Savery.
