This is an original work by Judith Moore, American, 1942-2010.
The original inspiration for Judith's many iris paintings was the bed of irises in her garden in Illinois. Even years after moving her studio to Santa Fe, Judith continued to be attracted to irises, often photographing them at parks and botanical gardens when she traveled.
Like many of her floral paintings, the composition of this oversized work is like a "portrait" of the blooms, inviting the viewer to hone in and marvel at the details and forms of nature as an abstract composition.
This work is a gallery-wrapped canvas, with the painting extending around the edges. No frame is necessary.
