The painting begins with a singular color intention. Grounded on raw textile with its nubby, imperfect, and unpredictable texture, initial marks immediately stain the surface, and the artist embraces and connects the elements as she works her way forward.

The artist employs a wide range of layered pigment-based media that lend a soft luminosity in the finished work. She also sometimes incorporates paper or textile collage amongst the still-wet puddles of paint which, once cured, produce an altered surface that faintly filters the viewer’s perception of color and distorts the light reflectivity, enhancing the ethereal effect.
