The production of art, unfortunately, comes with the potential for a fair amount of waste. Abandoned paintings, surplus paint, unused supplies, material remnants, used dropcloths…

Inspired by the wine industry where second labels enable greater consumption of harvested grapes, this painting is made from leftover paint and excess studio supplies, intentionally distinct from the artist's primary originals. These “second-level” paintings serve an extremely important green objective in the artist's studio, borne of a desire to productively repurpose and minimize studio waste so that unused items do not end up in landfills or water supplies.  The distinct visuals of these paintings also afford a prized opportunity for the artist to experiment with concepts that do not narrowly comport with her primary practice. By purchasing this artwork, you are supporting this artist's efforts to build a more sustainable artistic practice.
