Monica Shulman is a New York-based artist whose tells stories through her brand of gestural abstraction. Her work is rooted in the traditions of abstract expressionism and she describes her world as colorful and rhythmic. Monica's paintings reflect an evolving universe where communication is less concrete. She is greatly inspired by nature and especially the area around the Hudson Valley were her studio is located just on the banks of the Hudson River.

Both in her abstract and her figurative art, Monica uses her materials as participants in her work and she creates sculptural surfaces through her heavily layered impasto technique. This small format work (10 in x 10 in) can either be hung on a wall or used as an object on a bookshelf to add depth and color to any space.

Monica has been featured in various publications including The Washington Post, Popular Photography, Create magazine, and the Huffington Post. In 2022 she was inducted into the prestigious National Association of Women Artists. In 2019 she was named "Best Artist" in Westchester by Westchester magazine. Her work has been shown at the American Academy of Arts and Letters in New York City, Photo LA, The National Arts Club in NYC, Art Market Hamptons, PULSE Art Fair, and the New York Mercantile Exchange, among others.
