Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this wonderful early 20th century antique Arts & Crafts Tiger Oak sideboard / server. We couldn't locate a maker's mark on the piece but believe it was made by the Come-Packt Furniture company CA 1910-1915. We really don’t purchase too many of these because our warehouse is consistently full, but this example was simply too nice to pass up on. Over the past three decades, the Arts & Crafts furniture market has experienced a notable surge in popularity, attracting an ever-increasing number of collectors. Embracing simplicity, functionality, and quality materials, these pieces have not only garnered a devoted following but have also proven to be wise investments. The value of quality Arts & Crafts furniture has not just endured, but frequently appreciates, making it a great choice for those seeking both the aesthetic appeal and long-term investment potential that you can keep close by and enjoy while you own it.
The boldest Tiger Oak was reserved for the front faces with a large number of rays & flecks present in the grain. The cabinet doors have an interesting paneled design with a diamond appliqué at the center. The top drawer has a green felt bottom with a compartmentalized interior that’s helpful to keep all your cutlery & serving pieces organized. The top two drawers have a mitered edge and both retain their original round Arts & Crafts ring pulls with solid brass backplates. The bottom drawer spans the length of the case and the figuring on this drawer is just about as bold as one can hope to find. The pulls on the bottom drawer could be replacements, but even if they are they complement the piece nicely. The maker may have just chosen to use heavier pulls on the bottom because the bottom drawer would hold the majority of the dinner service and carry the most weight. We love the shallow geometric cutouts on the apron & there’s also some light carving work on the gallery that’s easy to miss in our photos. The sideboard is in very good condition with our only notes being minor surface wear & a small veneer chip on the front left leg that we’ll ask our restorer to touch in. The sideboard measures 50” wide x 19 3/4” deep x 51 1/2” tall.
