Beautiful pastoral oil painting by the famed Alfred Schonian 1856 - 1936. The painter & illustrator began his art training in Leipzig and later studied at the Munich Academy. Schonian was known for his preference for portraying animals, poultry in particular. This is a rare pastoral scene with a Shepherd and his Flock & faithful dog. Signed in lower left corner - A. Schonian, Munchen.
Oil on canvas. Frame in frame.
There is glass over the canvas, so it was difficult to photograph - slight glare in photos. Not examined out of frame.
The sticker on the back of frame names the Art Dealer - Czihak and the setting of the painting is Vienna, Austria.
