Behold the exquisite bottle trolley, a masterpiece designed in Italy by Ico and Luisa Parisi for Mb Italia in the glamorous era of the 1960s.
This creation is a captivating fusion of materials, seamlessly blending Formica, aluminum, and gold metal with perfection. Notably adorned with original stickers on its two trays, this piece stands as a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship of the time.
In splendid vintage condition, this fantastic bar trolley promises to elevate the ambiance of any mid-century living room, hall, or library it graces. The allure lies not only in its aesthetic appeal but in the rich history of its creators.
Renowned Italian architect, artist, and furniture designer, Ico Parisi, alongside his wife and frequent collaborator, Luisa Parisi, formed an unparalleled design duo in the postwar period. Their work emanates a magnetic aesthetic, harmonizing the refined angularity and elegance of Gio Ponti with the lively and lightweight elements found in the furniture of Carlo Mollino.
Born and raised in Palermo, Ico Parisi later settled in Como, where his artistic journey flourished. A former civil engineer turned associate of Giuseppe Terragni, Ico's design studio, formed with Luisa, became an artists' haven, attracting luminaries like Lucio Fontana and Bruno Munari.
Their breakthrough as designers occurred in 1948, leading to contracts with prestigious manufacturers such as Cassina and Singer & Sons. What set them apart was their versatility in crafting diverse furniture forms. From Singer & Sons' coffee and dining tables with notch-edged tops to MIM Rome's cabinets and credenzas with molded-teak detailing, the Parisis' repertoire was unparalleled.
Their chairs, ranging from sleek dining pieces to the iconic Model 813 Uovo for Cassina, exemplify the duo's ability to create eclectic yet stylish pieces that seamlessly integrate into any decor. The legacy of Ico and Luisa Parisi endures in this elegant bottle trolley, a timeless embodiment of mid-century design excellence.
