Magnificent work in oil on panel belonging to an exquisite French collection. It preserves its original frame in gilded wood with gold leaf. The scene depicts a navy of great pictorial and chromatic strength, as a naval battle has been represented with great detail. There are two main gallons in the composition, the one on the left has still smoking cannons, while the opposite one is, on the other hand, destroyed and with active fires. In the foreground, some shipwrecked sailors are sailing in a small boat. Meticulous technique, very fine brushstrokes, balanced composition. Composition according to the narrative sense of the painting. Patina in accordance with its age.
