About the artist: Soviet Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. Member of the Union of Artists of the Ukrainian SSR. Victor Emelyanovich Belov was born in 1925 in the village of Maryanovka in the Sofievsky district of the Dnipropetrovsk region in a peasant family. Early learned the severity of peasant labor. The family was left without a father when the children were very young and Victor began to play the role of the eldest in the family. Mother, diligent and hardworking, the leader of the newly created collective farm, taught the children to appreciate everyday work, labor, the result of which brings good to the person. The boy showed a desire to draw early. At school, he made fluent sketches of friends and the environment. Inquisitiveness and curiosity manifested even at a young age with the future artist. Belov, a participant in the Great Patriotic Wave, was wounded several times. Everywhere where a young man had to be, his desire to draw did not leave him. And the closer the end of the war was, the more real the goal became - to seriously engage in painting. During the war, Viktor Belov went through a harsh school of life, where he understood a lot, learned a lot. In 1946, the young man's dream came true - he joined the real art, became a student at the Dnepropetrovsk art school. Despite the fact that Viktor Belov was already twenty years old, and he was much older than his fellow practitioners, he studied with great desire. After graduating from college in 1951, Belov began working in the Kryvyi Rih branch of the Dnepropetrovsk art and production plant. In these years, the artist’s work has been quite formed. He is an active participant in art exhibitions. Since 1970, Viktor Belov became a member of the Union of Soviet Artists. The works of Viktor Belov stop, on their eyes, their character. They are peculiar in a picturesque manner and features of world perception. In Belov’s work, landscape is a leading genre. He recreates the colors of nature. The artist’s cherished theme - the earth and people - is filled with soulful lyricism, life-affirming optimism. As a landscape painter, Belov-artist took shape in a long search. One of the first works to be recognized by the viewer, exhibited at the Republican Art Exhibition of 1961, is dedicated to the great Ukrainian poet and artist T. Shevchenko. Already this work presented at the exhibition the artist’s established skill, the seriousness with which he approached the creation of the poet’s image, reflecting the depth and passion of his experience (“I Day, Day, Night ...” 1961). In 1963, the work “Beveled” was shown at the Republican art exhibition, which became decisive in the work of nature artist-singer. Member of regional and republican exhibitions since 1955. Personal exhibitions were held in Krivoy Rog (1962, 1975), Dnepropetrovsk and Dneprodzerzhinsk (both - 1975). The artist was awarded orders of the Patriotic War І and ІІ degrees, medals. Famous master of the industrial landscape and portrait. He lived and worked in Krivoy Rog. The author of pictorial and watercolor still lifes. Works are in many public and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
