Signed O. Toikka Nuutajärvi - signature is extremely difficult to photograph as it's within the texture of the glass. The Capercaillie is the largest member of the grouse family, and this impressive interpretation by Oiva Toikka is sized to match. Toikka also plays ode to the rich jewel green, blue, and amber tones of the species with stunningly textured, iridescent glass. Handcrafted in Finland by iittala's skilled glassblowers, the iittala Toikka Capercaillie is truly a one-of-a-kind piece of art; no two are exactly alike. Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) is one of the greatest names in Finnish design. The iconic collection of Birds by Toikka first took flight back in 1972 at the Nuutajärvi glass factory with the creation of his small glass Flycatchers. For decades, Iittala’s legendary designers, master glassblowers and teams of glassmakers have innovated with textures, colours and design to create some of the most iconic art glass in the world.
