Signed O. Toikka Nuutajärvi - signature is extremely difficult to photograph as it's within the texture of the glass. The Capercaillie is the largest member of the grouse family, and this impressive interpretation by Oiva Toikka is sized to match. Toikka also plays ode to the rich jewel green, blue, and amber tones of the species with stunningly textured, iridescent glass. Handcrafted in Finland by iittala's skilled glassblowers, the iittala Toikka Capercaillie is truly a one-of-a-kind piece of art; no two are exactly alike. This displays beautifully as a pair with the Female Wood Grouse. (listed separately.) Also Displays beautifully with 3 or more birds. See my other listings for options.

Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) is one of the greatest names in Finnish design. The iconic collection of Birds by Toikka first took flight back in 1972 at the Nuutajärvi glass factory with the creation of his small glass Flycatchers. For decades, Iittala’s legendary designers, master glassblowers and teams of glassmakers have innovated with textures, colours and design to create some of the most iconic art glass in the world.

As an interior designer, I purchase (usually at auction) and warehouse art and decorative items of interest. I shop from my warehouse for the finishing touches for my clients' homes. Several items are also listed on Chairish, but if I need them for a project, the listing will be deleted. less
