Like a male peacock, this throne-esque chair wants to be seen. It's done just that for over a century.
It has originated in the Philippines, which is why it is often referred to as the Philippine Chair. One report traces the chair to the Bilibid Prison in Manila, where the incarcerated population was tasked with weaving home furnishings from weeds and rattan.
The chair's ornate, Edwardian stylings and colonial origins.
In 1974, the chair featured prominently in the popular French pornographic film, Emmanuelle; the film's star Sylvia Kristel posed topless on a Peacock Chair for the film's poster.
It was also the favourite chair of Morticia Addams and it has also been featured in the 2018 film "Bohemian Rhapsody", by being part of Mary Austin's bedroom.
In Italy this chair was really popular in the 70s, where it was used as a decorative bedroom chair.
This particular chair comes in perfect bright conditions. Really difficult to find in such a bright shape nowadays.
An important and handy chair because of its lightweight and resistant organic material.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller

- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.
- The item will be delivered to your home and placed in the desired room. The delivery service includes unpacking, inspecting, and removing packaging materials; and does not include installation or setting up the item.
- Shipping charges start at $999 and vary based on the size, weight, packaging, and/or the value of the item.
- Deliveries can take anywhere from 6 to 9 weeks to be delivered.
- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.
- You will need tools and/or equipment to open the crate.
- Shipping charges start at $799 and vary based on the size, weight, packaging, and/or the value of the item.
- Chairish Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
- Only available in selected markets.
- Chairish In-Home Delivery
