Mary Immaculate is depicted with Jesus in the … more Ancient painting oil on canvas depicting the Immaculate Virgin and "Cacciatore" Jesus. Mary Immaculate is depicted with Jesus in the arms who kills the snake with the cross, indicating that Mary is preserved by sin, but it is Jesus who has removed sin from the world with his cross. Generally the Immaculate is represented as the "woman of the apocalypse": standing, circumfused of light on a background of heaven, blessed by the eternal Father and dominated by the dove of the Holy Spirit, with an aureola of twelve stars and with feet On a sickle of the moon under which there is an aggressive snake, often in the form of a dragon (in the first case to remember the original sin, in the second to remember the vision of the apocalypse). In fact, ours is represented with the snake at his feet to remember the original sin and is surrounded by a host of angels and cherubs. The splendid workmanship and the refined color, evidently of the highest level, suggest the attribution to an author of great talent operating in Naples in the first half of the eighteenth century. The characters are well modeled, the brush stroke is full -bodied and the use of chiaroscuro creates volume and plasticity. The light illuminates the figure by creating areas of chiaroscuro between the pannages of the garment, on which the use of blue and pink color is also evident, superimposed on the colors below, to give greater prominence to the figures. - Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
