A superb pair of 19th century paperweights featuring sand-cast figural sculptures after the ancient works of Il Porcellino (The Wild Boar) and Wounded Stag. Both are very finely cast in light of their petite dimensions with crisp chiseling and finishing of the details throughout, each finished in a brown and black chemical patination and sealed under wax. They are situated over original carrara marble bases with gilt beading around the upper edge.
Measurements: 4 5/8" H x 3" D x 5 3/4" W [stag, overall]; 4 1/2" H x 3" D x 5 3/4" W [boar, overall]
