The Child Mary Spinning / La Virgen niña hilando // The iconographic sources that inspired this composition are the Apocryphal Gospels (Protoevangelium of James) narrating there how the priests of the Temple of Jerusalem ordered the Virgin girl to make the veil of the Temple. This veil would be the one that was torn at the moment of Christ's death on the Cross, being, therefore, the act of its realization a premonition about the future death of Christ.
This is a 20'th century reproduction done in Cuzco , Mexico.
