He is known for his brushwork and expressive choice of color palette, giving a luminous quality. His aquarelle ( watercolors ) include vivid brooding storm-scapes, brilliant florals, and Berlin nightlife scenes. Artworks by Nolde are included in the collections of many of the most prestigious museums.
