The … Read more Pair antique early 19th century French Empire gilt & patinated bronze figural caryatid wall sconces in the Egyptian taste. The female figure is dressed in classical robes. She holds two foliate candle branches; a basket of flowers rests on her head and she stands atop a globe ornamented with oak leaves and acorns. The design is reminiscent of Thomas Hope's work in England. Each measures 14" tall x 8 3/4" across over candles x 5" out from the wall. Good condition with pleasing old patina. A graceful and sophisticated form of elegant proportion and exceptional casting. See less
