Made of richly patinated oak, the imposing two-part cabinet reflects the strength, craftsmanship, and provincial elegance associated with Louis XIV furniture from Northern France.
The upper section features a flat molded cornice above a deeply carved frieze decorated with acanthus leaves, scrolling foliage, and a central rocaille shell cartouche. Two tall doors are embellished with carved floral motifs and fitted with original chicken-wire panels, allowing fine Quimper, faience, porcelain, or decorative objects to be displayed behind the doors. The interior is fitted with shelves featuring shaped front edges.
The lower section includes two paneled cabinet doors with foliate carvings, opening to reveal additional storage with an interior shelf. The cabinet rests on a sturdy molded plinth base and retains its original barrel hinges, pegged joinery, wrought-iron hardware, curvilinear escutcheons, locks, and key. The oak has developed a warm honey patina over time, highlighting the depth of the carvings and the age of the wood.
