Its domed lid, broad decorated rim, and low circular foot create a graceful silhouette.

The lid features an intricate scene of figures in traditional dress amid trees and scrolling foliage. Red-orange linework, accented with green and yellow, stands out against the glossy black ground. Repeating ornamental borders continue around the lid and dish rim.

The decoration employs the Burmese yun technique, in which fine designs are incised into the lacquer surface and filled with color. The lid lifts to reveal a black-lacquered interior divided into three compartments.

An engaging example of Burmese lacquer craftsmanship, equally appealing displayed closed to showcase its detailed lid or open to reveal its compartmented interior.
