Hand Knotted in wool circa 1960-1970, this 6x8 vintage rug is believed to be among the transitional designs of mid-century Turkish artist Zeki Müren. Its design bears a resemblance to Turkish Oushak rugs in a most creative play of traditional floral patterns with a modern flair.
On the Design:
Connoisseurs will admire that there’s a clear sense of modern color and playful movement that speak to a special mid-century artist—likely Müren given its sensibility and suspected date of origin. The colorway strikes a gorgeous balance between cool & warm tones. One must admire the sheer attention to craft that achieves this sense of movement—a hallmark of Müren’s rare style. The field features beige underscores bright pastel and jewel tone colors. Result is a boho-chic beauty, and one-of-a-kind regardless of provenance—likely among the works of a lesser-known master of his time.
It’s a light and playful piece with the whimsy of a Müren rug, but also with the comfortable and livable undertone that his works also embody, so thoughtful in their approach to the postmodernist appeal of the time and collectible in his suspected works curated today
Condition:
This mid-century vintage Zeki Müren rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin. Its construction has been lowered to preserve its construction, which lends it the distressed look of wear and chic in a low pile.

- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller

- Chairish Freight Delivery
