Metamodern, existential, colorful, Engelund's paintings take us further into visceral encounters with paint and text as his landscapes abstract into the poetic road via a playful cosmos.

Engelund seamlessly juxtaposes contradictory notions of painting, from zen-like hand-less aretê to childlike technê, while embracing the range of simple pleasures of, to the ab-ex impact of color. Text in Engelund’s new works becomes more prominent than his previous work ranging from poetic playfulness to addressing philosophical problems. Engelund earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction at the California College of Arts and Crafts and his Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Davis.
