Designed for an ocean-front residence, this rug was imagined on our first site visit. The notion of drawing circles in the sand on a warm day. shielded by the dunes, salt in the air and sun above. Carefree, drawing outside of the lines, ephemeral... until the sea washes it away again.

Dune was created in a technique conceived by Ward & Gray, inspired by vintage textiles and handmade in India. We admired a vintage silk textile with embroidered motifs but
reinterpreted the silk as a natural fiber field and the “embroidery” as a wool overlay. The overlay is made from hand-spun New Zealand wool, which is known for its soft texture and provides contrast against the natural fiber. Dune is a flatweave style field in a blend of hemp and jute and finished with a shag pile.
