It was in the fall when we first visited the site for our recent hotel project, Wildflower Farms. We were struck by the vast open fields surrounding the property and the colors of upstate New York’s fall foliage. The wild bergamot’s vibrant colors were impossible to ignore. The palette of this rug represents the deep burgundies, the saturated acid greens of the changing leaves and soft teals of the indigo sky.

The Bergamot rug is hand-knotted with a vintage distressed finish, made in Pakistan. This finish is something Ward + Gray have spent many years perfecting - the distressing is all done by hand with irregularity to feel time-worn and authentic, as though the same furniture has moved across it over the years. For these rugs we use hand-spun Ghazni wool which comes from Afghanistan and is known for its luster.
