This is an early seaside painting by the French artist. His early scenic landscapes have, to date, rarely popped up for sale. Most on the secondary art market currently are his more prolific paintings of people.

Claude-Marie Buford (1946) was born in Brest in Bretagne at the French west coast.

His mother painted as a hobby, and from the moment she heard from his teacher in kindergarten, that the whole day he wanted to draw, she encouraged her son to develop his painting skills.

Buford went to study art at “L’École de la Peinture” in Nantes.

In the summertime he earned money as a painter on the seaside, where he painted family views, and he was surprised himself with the money he earned with it, so he devoted himself to the impressionist style and developed it.
Nowadays his work is in museums throughout the west of France and his work is more and more in demand.

Painting is 9 inches wide, by 7 inches tall. The impressive gold frame adds a wonderful 10 inches around the entire painting.

It may be small, but it makes a huge statement.
