This magnificent cellar with marquetry liquor has a lovely Japanese decor. On the front of the cellar, you can admire an exquisite representation of an ascuted crane near Roseaux, with a delicate mother -of -pearl label. The top of the cellar presents another Japanese marquetry pattern, illustrating a heron holding a frog in his beak.
The use of different wood species, alternating between black and brown, elegantly frames these scenes, adding a touch of refinement.
This superb liqueur cellar, decorated with Japanese sets, reflects a deep symbolism and is anchored in a specific tradition of the 19th century.
The ash crane is a symbol of longevity, peace and good fortune in Japan. Its presence on the cellar with liqueur can be interpreted as an invitation to prosperity and longevity for those who meet to share liqueurs. It also evokes a sense of grace and elegance.
Heron is often associated with patience and contemplation in Japanese culture. The fact that he holds a frog in his beak can represent a delicate balance between predator and prey, emphasizing the duality of nature. This scene can be interpreted as a meditation on the harmony of life.
The dragonflies are also carrying symbolism in Japan. They are often associated with the Renaissance, transformation and inner strength. The mother -of -pearl dragonfly adds a touch of mystery and magic to the whole, evoking notions of change and metamorphosis.
When you open the cellar by the top, it brightly reveals four carafes to Baccarat liqueur and sixteen glasses with Baccarat liqueurs. Although it does not bear the signature of Baccarat, this is due to its age, preceding the year 1916, when the brand did not yet mark its glasses. It is important to note that the presence of such a marked model with a Japanese pattern is extremely rare. This precious piece dates back to the 19th century and came from a mansion in Burgundy with links with a family dating back to 1770.
The nineteenth -century liqueurs cellars were very popular pieces in Europe. They were used not only to store liqueurs, but also to exhibit artistic know-how. They were generally designed to be collection and conversation objects, symbols of elegance and luxury of the time.
The Japanese sets were fashionable during this period, thanks to the craze for Japanese art and culture, a phenomenon called "Japanism". The Japanese patterns were perceived as exotic and brought a touch of originality to the objects of the time, like this liquor cellar.
