Chrome in excellent condition, carefully polished. Beech sides painted light yellow and conserved with hardwax oil, 5 cm above the frame to accomodate for bed slats and give basic support for a mattrace. Front and back panelling is 67/84 cm of height. Original wood pannels were stripped, sanded and professionaly lacquered to yellow matte. Bed is around 30 kg heavy. Original frame and copper veawing in perfect condition, cleaned. Diameter of tube is 30 mm. All screws original, polished, except those holding side pannels, identical new.
S.A.B was one of several major producers, next to Hynek Gottwald, Slezak, Mucke Melder and Thonet, of tubular furniture back in 30s in former Czechoslovakia. This is type 686 that can be found in their catalogue. Please note that beds and daybeds in that time were considerably shorter. This bed will require a mattress of 185/90 cm maximum. The base of the frame is 23 cm itself. Suggesting to have simple spruce/pine bed slatts of 1,5 cm cut so there is at least 3,5 cm left to hold the bottom of a mattrace in place.
