An original signed silver gelatin print entitled “The Summit Route” photographed in the northern Rockies by the important Canadian photojournalist Harry Rowed, ca. 1930-40s. Rowed gained recognition after being chosen to cover the infamous 1936 Olympics in Berlin, which the Nazi’s used as a world stage to showcase their expanding power.
He photographed throughout Europe in the late 30s before the outbreak of war and returned home to become the Director of Photo Services for the National Film Board in Ottawa. He later developed an artistic reputation for documenting the native peoples, working life and natural landscapes of the Canadian experience throughout the mid 20th century.
