Beautiful Greek Revival Farmhouse Entrance Mantel.
This stunning piece was removed from an 1800’s Ohio Farmhouse, cleaned up (wiped down gently with soapy dish water) to remove the 100+ years of dirt and grime. Then, again, gently sanded with super fine grit sandpaper to remove excessively lose paint. Finally, it was shellaced with 6 coats to preserved the amazing chipped antique surface.
It is an amazing architectural statement piece. The Greek Revival dominated american architecture during the period 1818-1850. It was the first truly national style in the United States, found in all regions of the country. The popularity of the style was due to strong associations with classical tradition and democracy.
This piece graciously adds history to any interior.
