A wonderful painting by artist T. Wimpery 1872. This is a rendition of this particular study that emanated from the British school art movement.
The young woman balances a laundry basket with her left leg, while looking at her midriff and in need of attending to her corset. When looking further at this painting, one can see presumably a male peering through the wood door at the young woman inspecting herself, as a feline wanders through the door that was left ajar.
This painting has a period gilded frame that has had additional gilding added since the painting was first created.
There has been some very minor restoration, and is in overall very good antique condition. Overall measurements are 16” in length, x 21” In height x 2 2/4” in depth. Actual painting is 8 1/2” in length x 12 3/4” in height.
