. San Francisco's Summer of Love [in the Haight-Ashbury district] produced fantastic art featuring swirling colors, paisley patterns, flowers, love and peace. It was influenced by hippie culture and psychedelic drugs such as LSD, which had a widespread effect on design in the 60s & 70s.
This paintings comes from a collection of psychedelic, surreal and abstract expressionist paintings and sketchbooks executed in San Francisco by F. Vogel. Notes on sketchbook covers refer to locales in San Francisco, including the SF Academy of Art and the Haight.
