Spectacular tempera on cardboard signed by Pedro Mozos, probably the most awarded Castilian artist of the 20th century, although his work is usually considered to belong to the Madrid School. It represents a hunting scene, formed by three horsemen accompanied by their hunting dogs, crossing a river. The technique used, tempera painting, is responsible for the finish of the work, practically matte. Signed in the lower right corner.

Mozos was born in a village in Palencia, but when he was only 4 years old he moved to Madrid, where he began to paint in a self-taught way and little by little he was introduced in the cultural environment of the capital. He became acquainted with artists such as Ignacio Zuloaga, and already at this time Eugenio D'Ors described him as a genius. After the civil war he gradually consolidated his artistic career.

His work is located between tradition and innovation, as he did not accommodate to academic naturalism or openly bet on avant-gardism. Nature was precisely one of his favorite subjects. In his landscape compositions he is much more interested in the general effects than in the refined description of detail, as occurs precisely in this work.
