Hand-knotted with wool, originating circa 1920-1930, this 12x15 antique Persian Bakhtiari rug enjoys a rich black field with brown undertones, especially present red and gold in the many deep, saturated hues that depict its floral patterns.
On the design:
Connoisseurs will note that this design looks like an Oriental take on English needlepoint rugs—likely made for the European market of the time. This tribal rug from the Bakhtiari tribe is an unusual take on the European style with geometric floral patterns across the field and the border. With a vibrant color palette of red, blue, gold and beige/brown, this is a very rare collectible piece.
Condition:
This antique Persian Bakhtiari rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
