19th Century French Majolica floral wreath by A Selée. Beautiful original vibrant glaze accents the roses + pansies with minimal chips. Could have been used to decorate cemetery, but now appropriate as wall decor or table centerpiece with a candle in the center.
Originally this piece was considered a cemetery wreath - dating late 1800s-early 1900s. Rather than using live flowers to decorate graves, exquisite porcelain pieces were used to withstand harsh winter weather. Made of clay porcelain, this piece features exquisitely detailed deep pink roses, purple pansies, and green leaves attached to a brown glazed clay base, with drain holes on sides and back.
