From middle of 19th century, late Qing Dynasty, this antique Chinese wall hanging plaque expresses the wish for the family's new generations: wishing that the family men could all pass the imperial exam with their ancestor's blessing. In Chinese history, education and passing strenuous exams mean not only the status, but also opportunities to power and prosperity.
