A rare find! This unusually long console or credenza was a custom, handmade piece by Tomlinson Furniture, from North Carolina. It is beautifully designed and crafted and has a lovely soft luster and gracious proportions -- a definite show-stopper, when compared to the production burlwood pieces that are regaining popularity today. The wood in this piece is a warm chestnut brow, accented by sturdy antique brass lions-head hardware and brass library-grating on bookcase doors.
A definite statement piece, it could be found as easily in a Parisian pied-a-terre as in a preppy-chic town house stateside. It’s also a flexible piece -- from hall to library, used as a media console or even as extra seating. I hate to part with it!
